    exactly surfboard man. you can't necesarily get good at surfing but you can work on your balance with an indo board. balance plays a key factor in surfing, if you have good balance it will enable you to overcome many more obstacles in surfing.

Thats like asking if you can learn to ride a bike without a bike. Nothing can prepare you for surfing other than being in great physical shape. well plan a surf trip. You should go to your nearest beach and find a good surf instructor and get him or her to teach you. a good teacher has taught hundreds of people how to surf and they will be able to recognize your spefic learning style. Just relax and go out there and have a good time, surfing is not about competeing or looking good, its about just going out there and having fun. dont be discouraged if you are not good at first, everyone is terrible when they first start, you just have to keep getting up after every failed attempt, paddle out and try it again GOOD LUCK!
