Good for when you are moving around, not good when staying still or when it is really cold. They use 250gm weight in comforters and 150gm in winter mountaineering boots. As for the jackets. Probably the Obermeyer. I'd have to see the specific models you are concerned with, but I own some Obermeyer pants and I roast in them unless it's really freakin' cold out.
