How do you keep parts colored in photofiltre?

I've tried johnsons holiday skin a few times but I keep getting patchy parts?

  • where am i going wrong? i thought i was rubbin it in properly (just like moisturiser) especially around the elbows, knees and ankles but I'm keep getting patchy parts. also, does ...show more

  • Answer:

I mix it with my normal moisturiser every day and it builds up toa nice tan. Don't rub it in too much on elbows knees and ankles. Use a sponge to apply then you won't get finger marks.

Hi I've used it all summer. Shower, exfoliate with a coarse sponge all over especially elbow knees wrists. Then apply a moisturiser let it soak in for 15 minutes. Then apply johnsons tan, dont put it on your elbows knees or wrists they have different skin tones anyway and only look like rust if you do apply it there. Let it dry in and bobs your uncle

I don't think there is any kind of fake tanning product out there that goes on properly, the only way to get a proper tan is to go to a hot country. Also i think it probably would stain your clothes as most of these products do.

I have the same proble, the reason normal fake tan does it is because of dry skin areas but this cant be true as this ones moisturised!! my friend who is a beautician says mine is due to the fact i shower everyday, some parts of the skin will lose it quicker than others. sounds like you are putting it on right though...you are not alone! (and yes it does come out on clothing sometimes, stick to the darks, one of my bras has turned tan colour and isnt coming out in the wash! and in ref to the first answer - it does stain the bed sheets even when you try and let it dry as it is moisturiser it doesnt dry)

the patchy parts are from skin build up. Try doing a dry exfoliation. Use a buffing glove and rub your body before applying the lotion. This will remove any dead skin cells built up on the surface. I don't know if it stains

I would say that you need to make sure your skin is well cared for before putting on the lotion, tanning lotions do get patchy when on dry areas of skin, it is best is you fully exfoliate before putting the lotion on – get yourself a puff or a looffa, alternatively get yourself a good body scrub. I haven't found it marks clothes because the self-tan is so minimal within the lotion, but self-tan will stain clothing, the only way to avoid that is to avoid getting it on your clothing, don't wear whites or light colours right after applying the lotion – best to apply when out of the shower or bath, when naked and when the only clothes you will be putting on is bed cloths or casual clothing rather than your good clothes.

i've used it and found that the colour really takes to dry skin. exfoliate and use a normal mosturiser on dry patches before using holiday skin. and yes it does come off on light fabrics a teeny bit but it washes out again - just make sure its completly dry before gettin dressed and it shouldnt be noticeable

have you tried talking to a doctor or a dermatologist?

Yes it stains the clothes, my friend used that and she got patches and streaks all over her body with it. She hated the stuff and ended up throwing it away!

try using a buffing cream or a sugar scrub on your body when you shower to remove the dry skin prior to putting the Holiday Skin on. I sell Mary Kay and we have very good and pretty inexpensive of both products. Go to my website at www.marykay.com/kmicek to look at them OR email me and I can send you a couple of samples to try.
