How do I get my restaurant to appear at the top of yahoo or google searches?

    The more people linking back to your site, the higher up your ranking will be. Don't put 'spam' words in your page content, google will reject pages designed with fake content. Join affiliate programs - you link to bigger sites with high traffic and they basically lead the crawlers back to your site. There are a bunch of other ways but the advantage of affiliate programs is that you have the potential to make money. Just don't sign up for something shady. Do lots of research and have your website down professionally. That's not to say you need to pay a billion dollars to build a site, but have it done by someone who knows what they're doing. Make sure your code is validated, that your site is supported in most (pref. all) browsers and that it's user friendly. The better you build your site, the more likely people will visit it.

And source #2 about what they look for in good sites in their results. Now, read up on SEO from SEOmoz - #3 link - probably the best SEO company online. They charge $1,000 an hour for SEO, they are that good. Read their help guides for beginners and learn it all and apply it to your site. Next, learn all about Internet marketing. Get those people on your site into your restaurant. That's the 4th link.
