Does it hurt to get stitches out?

Just about to get my stitches out, are they going to hurt?

    If you ask the doctor or nurse to put some sort of external pain killer on before the stitches are removed this should reduce the pain, alternatively if this option is not available try to relax and not think about it to much. Remember that you have had stitches out before so you know what to expect and usually the second time is different as you have been there before. Good Luck !!

they will hurt depending what type ad the material of the thread used,......but there is nothing to be scared of, as it is momenatrily

Let your doctor know of your concerns and they may very well give you some lidocaine cream to numb up the area before they take out the stitches. If you let them know how much this bothers you, and dont be overly dramatic, they will most likely honor your request.

they probably will to be honest but nowhere near as much as having them in. if you had them out last year then why would they be any different to that. but it wont last long and im sure you can be brave about it.

Stitches dont hurt... i'v had stitches removed from my wrist bt they didnt hurt 1 bit.

Absolutely not. I had them 70 taken out 2 years ago and didn't feel a thing. If you convince yourself it will hurt, then you will feel something. Mind over matter.

i recently had staples removed from my tummy & i found they pinched a little bit...but not real pain & i think that is the same with stitches. take a deep breath - you'll be fine!
