I think it's a terrible program that has caused schools to stop teaching many other subjects because the teachers are teaching only to the test. Schools lose federal monies if they don't do well. (It is a program fought for by Bush, not some socialistic program. Neil Bush sells software for educational programs!) The program has stopped many schools from teaching Civics, sciences, art, music, etc. It hasn't made better students or citizens...I thought that was what part of education was all about...besides our ABC's & 1,2,3'.s. I think it was really created as an underhanded way to privatize schools & do away with the free public education for all promised by Jefferson.

It depends on the goals of the college. NCLB has added a level of responsibility to standards. That's a good thing. Unfortunately, it now means that the VAST majority of teachers have ended up "teaching to the test." This does not encourage creativity. Many colleges are looking for challenging minds - and the simple ability to pass a test doesn't really show that.

It's a stupid socialist program.

If we don't have stupid kids then we wont have stupid janitors, the world will get very dirty and everybody will be too rich and educated to be expected to clean it up. Anarchy will surely follow.
