    At 16? Not a good choice. You would probably only carry liability insurance, but even for that the rating on a Porsche for a 16 year old will be a killer. I just posted a response to someone else about Porsche 944 problems/maintenance. Search the forum for the full answer (I hate to repost again here). Overall, however, plan to spend about $2000 - $2500 annually to maintain it as a daily driver. Look out for the timing belt/water pump, heating and a/c issues, electrical problems, and computer problems. I'd seriously reconsider, though, unless you plan to store the car for the future.

A good place to start would be a quick glance under the dash. Look for wires that have been cut, spliced or burnt. Check for carpet damage if the sunroof leaks you get mold problems, it is unhealthy and destroys the leather interior. Grab the front wheels and shake sideways for bearing and suspension problems. Full coverage if you can get it will definitely be a little expensive, good grades can help and any past tickets will haunt you for a long time to come. Don't try to prove anything it's what you know that counts, there is always some jerk talking smack about your car or other things in life just remember you are the one driving a Porsche.

at 16, i wouldnt even think about a porche, insurance alone is going to kill you. do a web search for engine parts and other odds and ends to get an idea on how much parts are going to cost you in the short/long run. Unless he has all service records for the last few years, i dont think it would be worth buying
