What would the world be like without colors?

Does everybody in the world see different colors, but just have learned what certain things are called?

  • Have people at an early age, when we learn our colors, just been taught what has been taught to be blue, or red. Does every one see the grass , as we call it, green, or does Jim see ...show more

  • Answer:

Yeahh... I agree to the others who tried to answer this questions. How would we know??? unless we get into their head. This thing had come across my mind on how others perceive things. Not just in terms of colors but shapes too. Maybe it's not the same as other individuals and each one of us see things differently but has been taught to share the same meaning.

Wow I've wondered that too. Who knows? Really, how would we know?

If you gather a bunch of people together, put them in a field and ask them to paint what they see, they will all reach for the green paint to paint the grass (unless they are color blind).

I know exactly what you mean and have wondered the exact same thing. There is no way to answer that question without getting into someone else's head and seeing the world through their eyes. It's all about perception and I do know that everyone perceives things very differently so there is a good chance that the latter is true.

I think perhaps you might see it a little differently from me but its generally the same. For example some people are colour blind, like they cant differentiate some browns from green, but if its another hue of brown they can recognize it. I dont think the differences in what we see can vary so much as what you see orange, I see as blue, and yet we both call white. Its just a matter of hues and tones.

Most colour appreciation is programmed into kids as they grow up. I for instance do not percieve colours in the way other people do and have glasses to help with this learning disability.
