How does pausing live TV work with Sky+ and Virgin+?

• Answer:

  That box should work as a direct replacement for your box. You will be able to get certain channels with your existing card, but the premium channels won't work until you contact $ky and ask them to update your card to work with the new box. You'll have to tell them the serial no. of the box, but that's available from the on screen menu. DON'T tell them you're living in Germany now as I believe that's a breach of the terms & conditions of subscription to $ky. If they find that out, they'll block you. At least, that's how it used to be unless they've recently laxed their T's & C's. Regarding cheaper reception of certain channels, unless some local cable company provides the channels you want at a lower price, then you won't get it. $ky's encryption is virtually unbreakable so nobody is able to sell dodgy cards!
