How do I change my Dynamic IP?

Your dynamic IP is assigned by your ISP. This your IP when connected to the internet. When using a wireless router you can manually assign your IP address within range of what IP address of the router. For example. Your WAN (Internet ISP) IP address could be something like: 69.x.x.x When using a router you get a LAN IP address which is something like 192.168.x.x The only reason you would want to setup a manual IP would be for having multiple computers connected via a router so you can use remote desktop and some file sharing options. The IP address your wireless router receives from your internet provider will probably not change. There is nothing you can to to change it. If you are talking about the IP address your computer recieves from the wireless router (which is completely independent from the IP address in the previous paragraph) then you have total control over that. To change it you can type in your router's IP address and go to the tabs regarding "DHCP" or whatnot. In there you can change the settings for the range of IP addresses possible for your PC to get from the router. You can even assign a specific IP to each computer connected to the router.

Your router assigns the IP address to your PC. If there's only one PC using the router, it will most likely always get the same IP address - the first one in the range which is configured in the router. The IP address of the router on the broadband side is set by the network provider. It may change, or it may remain the same - the policy is up to them.

When an ISP issues you an IP, that IP has a sort of expiration date. You'll generally use that IP until that expiration is up, then it will change. This is likely to prevent people from spamming from multiple IPs, or to prevent people from trying to avoid IP bans. Hopefully that's not what you're doing ;) To see when your IP Lease was issued and expires, on Windows XP, Click Start>Run (Win+R works too) and enter "cmd" into the Run dialog, and click OK or press <Enter>. In the command prompt window that appears, type "ipconfig /all" (sans quotes of course) and under the section for the NIC that is hooked up to the internet there should be "Lease Obtained" and "Lease Expires" EDIT1: Whoops, was a bit unclear there. The IP will not change until the Lease expires. Once the Lease expires, the IP will still stay the same until your modem is reset and asks for a new one.

A dynamic IP is assigned by our ISP. You can change it if you turn off DHCP, but if its incorrect, you won't get on the internet. If you have dsl or Cable and have a router, you should be able to get to your routers admin page and change the range of address it assigns via DHCP. Hope this helps

I'm no network pro, but I believe it's set by your IP. They will change it on their schedule.
