BACK HAND SPRING HELP?

Back hand spring trouble? Help!?

  • I am trying to do a back hand spring, but every time i go back, i land on my head and forearms, instead of my hands, because i am bending my arms. How do i NOT bend my arms??

  • Answer:

You're stopping your swng too early. Make sure when you swing it's behind your ears this will help with getting over and not buckling your arms

I am not a gymnast, but my son is (he is a level 5/boys team). I had been watching him have this same problem for months. I addition to his team practices, I enrolled him in a tumbling class at his gym. It helped him get his backhandspring because it is a 90-minute class dedicated to tumbling, specifically, backhandsprings. One of his teammates had the same problem and took a similar class at a nearby cheer-gym. If your gym offers this type of class, it might be helpful.

Make sure your tighten your arms and legs. Your probably looking back too.. don't do that either. But. Yeah. Your have to make sure your arms and legs are tight and when you spring on them, it should create a good back handspring. Hope I helped!

Make sure to straighten ur arms as hard as possible and try doing some into tramp or into a soft pit
