Why do diesel cars make more noise than petrol cars?

Why diesel cars are costlier than petrol cars?

  • tell me good and bad thing about having a diesel and a petrol car

  • Answer:

actually diesels come in all sizes depending on where you live. in north america where diesels are not too popular, they are basically reserved for large trucks and premium automobiles. in the rest of the world though diesels are far more common. new diesels are far cleaner than gasoline engines. diesels require higher strength components due to their design which makes them more expensive off the bat but their lower fuel consumption and longer engine life make them worth it over the long run. here in canada the price difference for a VW jetta and jetta TDI (diesel) is made up in 7 years of 20,000 kms per year of mostly highway driving. after that the saving start to get substantial because of the lower consumption and less repairs. if you dont plan on using a diesel car for a long time it's probably not worth it. at least here in north america. in europe the price diffeces are lower and typical smaller engine sizes make diesels have a shorter time to return their investment. now with that out of the way, if you like driving quickly, a diesel car has a narrow power band which wont deliver the same speeds that you could get with a similar size gasoline engine. sure a properly tuned and geared diesel can be just as fast (look at audi's le mans racing team which dominates using diesel and most recently diesel hybrid technology) but this mostly isnt the case with cars since diesels are not used in sports cars for the general public.

Many Reasons. Keep in mind that Petrol is a greener/ cleaner fuel than Diesel and same amount produces more energy: - Diesel cars usually get bigger engines than their Petrol counterparts; which means materials required for the engine would be greater. - It's easy to burn petrol using just a spark plug inside the engine. But for a diesel engine, the air diesel mixture inside the engine has to be compressed using a heavy load before it can be ignited. This makes a diesel engine need more materials and technological attention. - To burn diesel efficiently, some car makers deploy a 'turbo'. Add this to the cost list. - Unlike Petrol, diesel pollutes a lot due to incomplete/ inefficient burning. Better anti-pollution techniques are required. Add this cost too. "Diesel engines last longer" ???? O goodness!!!!!!!!!
