Has anyone here ever had gallstones?

Anyone with experience of gallstones?

• I was diagnosed with gallstones 5 weeks ago and am waiting to have my gall bladder removed - has anyone here been throught this procedure - how long did it take to recuperate etc??

  I had my gallbladder out last December. I went in at lunchtime, to a day unit. I had to put on a gown and paper knickers, and some surgical stockings, plus my OWN slippers and dressing gown. Then I had blood tests, urine test and a chat with the surgeon and anaesthetist. I had my pre-med, and sat in a very cosy lounge area, with other day patients, until I was called in for the operation. I walked into the theatre, got on the operating table, had an Oxygen mask put over my face, and woke up 2 hours later, still on the table. They took me to a recovery bed, where I had a cup of tea and some toast, and I went home after 3 hours. For the first 48 hours, I had painkillers, and I was told not to lift anything (not so much as a kettle), so someone needs to look after you for a while. I had 3 small incision wounds, which healed after about a week or so. (dissolvable sutures) I was not allowed to drive for 3 weeks. It took about a month before I could tolerate any fat in my diet, but since then, I've felt great.
