Facebook Ads: Promoted Posts: How do I stop my ads from showing on mobile devices?
-
I've created promoted posts in the Facebook Power Editor and selected the Destktop only option. I then uploaded my ads from the Power Editor to sync it with the Admanager. When I view the ad (promoted post) in the Admanager it says that my ad is showing on "Desktop and mobile devices" (yet I only selected Desktop in the power editor). Most of my clicks end up coming from Mobile devices, which convert poorly for me. This is really driving me nuts. I do not want my ads to show up on mobile devices but Facebook is forcing my hand. Also, when I click to edit the ad in Ad Manager (not power editor) all the mobile devices appear unchecked. I would assume this means "no mobile devices" but it looks like it means "all mobile devices"

Answer:
If you select "Desktop Newsfeed" as a placement the post should not appear in mobile newsfeed. Disregard what the preview image is illustrating. Strongly recommend that you take advantage of mobile newsfeed targeting as you will see much higher engagement. Also, test unpublished link posts vs photo posts as the less interactions available on a link post may drive optimal website conversion. The conversion problem may not be due to mobile newsfeed targeting either - a responsive landing page designed for mobile with a clear CTA may help if this is not in place already.
