What is a legal gateway?

What are the cheapest and secure payment gateway services available for card and netbanking payments in India and have ability to accept international payments (Currecy concersion and all)?

  • We have a website which involve online payments. From basic research what I have understood is that we have to integrate third part payment gateway with our website. But I am not very clear about how this all work. When I pay online I get to see payment gateways of Citibank, HDFC bank and some more. Some say PayPal is the best payment gateway. Whats the difference between them? And how card companies visa, mastercard or your own bank feature in this whole picture. I was taking a look at CCAVENUE payment gateway, their pricing info show that they charge 2.5% on transaction amount. Whom does this money go to Card companies or companies like CCavenue? These charges I found astoundingly high. Is that industry standard price or whether any cheap, reliable and secure services available? Please suggest.

    I'm not very sure about accepting international cards, but for other purposes I think ibibo group's PayU is doing a bang on job.

From  Banks or PayPal you will get only one option for payment .. cards... if  you need all options like cards , net banking , IMPS (P2M), Cash Cards  ... you need a payment aggregator. There are many payment aggregators  like - billdesk, ccavenue, timesofmoney, techprocess, ebs, citrus, payu,  paytmpayments , zaakpay etc which should suffice your requirement . You should do your own research to find the right option.
