How do TV channels like Discovery and National Geographic make money?

  • I have been a big fan of the Discovery network for as long as I can remember and really love the high quality content. The animations and visual effects were way better than all of the other commercial networks and the kind of topics the programs focused on seemed very technology intensive and hence more expensive to produce.  However I noticed that while all the other network programs had lots of adverts, there were hardly any ads on the Discovery channel. I also would like to point out that growing up, I had a cable TV package and  didn't have to pay anything extra for these channels.

You must not forget the huge amount of money earned through their TV programs, displayed on various channels, and that an online shop exists. This last one sells from books to DVDs, from clothing to maps and gadgets. I hope this was helpful.

In addition to Tito , some programs material are probably paid for ..to get competitive edge over their rivalry products in market like bentley over rolls royce (but it doesn't seems as audience,because we r not familiar to such endorsements.But broder! we r NOT watching daily soap..we are considered to be most elite audience who spent time in front of TV ,they cant play with us easy..so some innovative..if not innovative,peculiar methods of endorsements are need to be added on .. so they does.and we are still unawared. Triumph  for them \__/ ) P.S.- i gave i thought about it...may not be true. njoY!! ;)
