Erasing Canon Pictures Without an LCD SCreen
-
Can someone with a canon powershot SD400 walk me through the steps I need to take to delete all the pictures on my SD card? Bonus Question: Is there something I can do to reset the camera to it's default settings? MY LCD Screen is broken so I can't see what buttons to push to use the "erase all" function. I'm almost certain I remember, but if someone could tell me step by step, I would appreciate it. [Yes, I normally borrow someone else's camera to erase my SD card, but I'm low on time at the moment.] Bonus: Also, I would be much more prone to trying this on my own if I knew there was a way to get it back to it's default settings if I accidentally changed something. Does anyone know if removing the battery restore it to it's original settings, or if when you put the battery back on it keeps the settings I might have accidentally adjusted it to. Thanks for the help!

Can't you plug in an AV cable and look at it on your TV?

I have an SD600. Not sure if the firmware/ menu system is the same, but for me it's: Power On Menu Button Select Down 7 times Select Button Select Right once Select Button

sharkfu: That was way off from what I remembered: *Move the slider to the "view photos" setting *menu button *select down 3 times *func/set once to choose erase all *func/set to confirm I think that the sd300 has the same set-up, and maybe the sd200 as well. Anyone have any of those cameras? Thanks.

Okay, from http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/SD400/SD4A.HTM, the menu system looks slightly different. Sorry.

On my SD400 you do this to format the disk (i.e. delete everything) - turn camera on - make sure slider is on the review setting - press menu button - press down six times - press function/set button to select format option - left (flash) button to move answer from Cancel to OK - press function/set again to OK - wait, top green light by viewfinder will blink as this is happening - when blinking stops, you are done. I have this camera in front of me so let me know if there's anything I can help you with.
