How do you remove or edit your question or answer?

When a question has lots of answers and the user has already answered it, why is the message "You may, however, edit your existing answer" not a link to the user's answer?

  • If there are 50 or 100 or 200 answers to a question it can be a bear to find mine. Is there some reason that the phrase "You may, however, edit your existing answer" can't be a link that takes me directly to my own answer?

    My guess - it's a reminder that you have already answered, and not an encouragement to unnecessarily edit old answers rather than produce answers to new questions.

I think the cost involved in making this particular feature is too high when one realizes that most people simply use Ctrl+F to search their name through the page to find their answer.
