How to change language in Ubuntu 10.04?

Can I switch a Linux desktop to an RTL layout with an English language?

  • I am looking a way to change linux desktop layout(Debian/Ubuntu Distrb) to show RTL in English languages. But unfortunately that work with in several eastern right to left languages only(Hebrew, Arabic etc); Con:  cannot understand a bit of the system languages, Pros: love the layout Example is like the image below. one is in english and other is in עִבְרִית.  toke from ubuntu with different languages packages. all i want is to have english but in RTL layout like Hebrew.

  • Answer:

xrandr | sed -n 's/ connected .*//p' | xargs -I@ xrandr --output @ --reflect x (Note: Not actually a good idea.  If you try this, I recommend investing in a mirror.) Okay, okay, here’s a serious answer that works for most GTK+ applications.  Create a file named gtk30.po with contents msgid "default:LTR" msgstr "default:RTL" Then run msgfmt -o gtk30.mo gtk30.po, and install the resulting gtk30.mo file as both /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES/gtk30.mo and /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES/gtk20.mo.
