Are there cheap flights to LHR to EWR?

Why are American Airlines direct flights from SFO to LHR so expensive?

• When AA does have code shares with BA, they're often double the cost of BA flight.  Does AA really think people will pay $3000 for an economy-class direct SFO-LHR flight when you can get it on BA for $1500?  Or does AA just think that an AA passenger will simply take the SFO-ORD/DFW/LAX-LHR flight? If LHR isn't a final destination, it seems outrageous that AA expects you to turn a 15 hour one-hop trip to a moderately sized European market into a 30 hour two-hop trip.

  I actually work for BA and im not really aware of this. I do know that there are relatively few flights compared to say JFK or LAX so that lower cost fares sell through quicker. I shall have a look into this! Edit: just had a look at this today....from what i can see when same fare was available then the price was same. May have oddly been a case where more people have bought fares against the codeshare compared to the ba prime flight number meaning only higher cost fares available against the AA flight number whereas lower ones on the Ba flight number. Very strange still!!
