What can I do about my toe spasming?

Pus is coming out of my big toe? Please help :(?

  • A couple of weeks ago, I had an ingrown toenail on my left toe (big toe), and I cut it (maybe like a month ago), but I guess I cut my nail a little too short because my nail is still shorter than the nail from my other big toe. Even though I cut my toe nail a bit shorter, it didn't bug me at all. My toe seemed normal until yesterday. Yesterday I wore my boots all day, and they're kinda narrow in the toe area. So when my toe started hurting I thought it was because of my boot, so I didn't bother checking until this morning when my toe was still hurting. I took my sock off and found my toe swollen and red! When I squished it pus came out of it from the edge(back edge/side edge). Comparing it to my other toe, you can tell that it is swollen. It hurts to walk. Since the morning I have just applied some povidone-iodine (Betadine) on it. I'm worried! This has never happened to me before!! I don't want to lose my toe or my foot :[[ !! I won't be able to see my doctor until Tuesday because I don't think they'll be there for memorial day. What can I do??? What will the doctor do?? Please help! The dark spot on my nail is nail polish, by the way) http://tinypic.com/r/3340sjm/6 http://tinypic.com/r/2rqj874/6 NOT MY TOE: I drew on a toe found on google. • Answer:

The pus means you have a bacterial infection. When you squeezed it you may have forced some of the bacteria further into the toe. The danger is you could get blood poisoning which is very serious if not treated promptly. If a red line starts to move from the toe and up the leg it means you are in big trouble because if the red approaches the heart it can kill you. If you see a red line anywhere on your foot or leg you must immediately go to the hospital for antibiotic injections.....

Hi it sounds like although you cut the ingrown nail it has since become infected. You could continue to treat it by soaking it and disinfecting the area, but it's likely better at this point to see your healthcare provider as it appears quite swollen and reddened. They may need to lance your toe and drain it. They may also feel that you need a round of antibiotics to clear up the infection. Hope it clears up soon. Take care

I would go ahead & call the on-call doc... see if they think you need an antibiotic plan to go to the doc on tuesday because that wound can become septic wear sandals instead of boots to let the foot completely air out most likely when you cut it, you did not properly sterilize what you used to cut soak the entire foot in water with heavy epsom salt (1/4 cup to a couple gallons of water) to draw out the infection & then rinse with anti-bacterial soap before you pat the foot dry -- make sure that whatever you soak your foot in is clean.... so you don't bring more bacteria into the area if you need to go to the store for epsom salts, go ahead & get a cheap plastic dish pan.. when you get home, clean it with antibacterial soap & then rinse a few times before soaking your foot in it... empty & clean it between soaks (up to 5 in 24 hour period) I have no need to look at pics... I have been-there-done-this myself
