How to change date format using jquery?

**Changing the date on a recording done on a camcorder.?

  • Hi, I have a camcorder (5yrs old) that uses mini 8mm discs to record unto. I recorded an important event using a dvd-rw mini 8mm disc. I recorded in VR mode. I have not finalized the disc on the unit yet. My mistake was not setting the date prior to my recording my event. Can I still fix this/change the date? When I am reviewing the video on the camcorder, it shows the wrong date throughout the entire video. It is really important for me to change this. My camcorder is: Panasonic VDR-D220. Note: While in playback mode in the unit, I can go into menu. There is a setting in the menu section that says date format, but i dont want to do anything yet unless it is the place to start. Also, I can not remove the disc from this unit UNLESS I finalize it first inside the camcorder. So I dont want to take disc out. Thanks in advance.

Hi Claire:     [UPDATE: see link below for video solution "demo"] Most likely, the date on your already-recorded video is already "burned-in" on the DVD footage. (Most camcorders do this when the Date/Time option is set for "on".) The Panasonic manual for your camcorder warns about setting the correct date & time BEFORE recording. You can safely go into the Menu → Setup → Date/Time → select [OFF], and see if that removes the Date from the recorded video during playback. (See the VDR-D200 manual PDF on page 38: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/VDRD220-MUL.pdf ) If not, you are stuck with it for now, and can try to remove it in editing (similar to what fellow Y!A Contributor Dave "Palladini" suggested). But contrary to part of what Dave said, you won't have to tediously edit frame-by-frame. A blur-effect can be applied to that corner of the frame to obscure the wrong date, and/or a new date (in a small opaque rectangle) can be used to cover that corner. Either method can be applied in "real time" during the edit & render, without "hand-painting" each frame individually. UPDATE: I uploaded a brief "proof of concept" demo showing how a corner overlay can mask the bad date with a new one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTQWdcYH5NE The "VideoPad" software is available free from NCH Software (Australian firm w/ Colorado USA offices) & it runs fine on XP machines: http://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/tutorial.html From other Y!A discussions, your household appeared to have some Macs (3 years ago), so you might find an iMovie feature (or a Final Cut version that has the needed effect) to accomplish the date fix. One warning about Macs & 8cm mini-DVD discs: don't try to put a finalized mini-DVD into a slot-load Mac drive! Only a drawer-load drive will properly handle loading the smaller disc size. Most mini-DVDs will get jammed and cause a major repair bill for a slot-drive. hope this helps, --Dennis C.

You could put your video on the timeline of a Video editing (NLE) program. Drop the video on the NLE timeline, then frame by frame erase the date and if your ambitious enough, add a new one. This is not something Windows Movie maker can do. It would take very NLE to be able to do this, you might even need to do this with an outside the NLE program, like final cut or something. It would be very time time consuming, if your good at it, you could 6 to 8 frames a day. Once the time is on the video, that is about the only way to do this. I hope it not a long clip
