How do you send messages on tumblr?

Why am I not seeing the messages people send me on Tumblr?

• If I ask someone something on Tumblr, and they reply, it shows up on my dashboard... Yet I don't get a notification that they've replied? How can I fix this? I don't want to continuously be staring at my dashboard in case they reply :/

  If they publish the answer on your blog, you won't get a notification. You are only notified when the answer is sent to your inbox. What you can do, however, is track the tag for your username - most people will tag their answers with the username of the whoever they're answering. To track your username, type it into the tag search beneath the sidebar on the right of your dashboard. Once you've hit enter, you'll see your username highlighted above the search field. Next to your username, click the button that says 'track'. This way, there will be a little number next to it every time someone tags a post with your username.
