How can you burn 2,000 calories?
-
I was watching I Used To Be Fat and the girl was telling her mom how her trainer needs her to burn 2,000 calories BEFORE she goes to work out with her, they didn't show or mention any workouts so HOW could she do that?? On another episode they were showing the ending of a workout the kid was doing & I heard the tranier say THATS 1,000 CALORIES RIGHT THERE & the kid was just coming off the ground. SO my question is how do they do they burn so much? How can I burn 1,000 - 2,000 calories? Im really heavy too (250+) so I heard that helps. thanks

Answer:
Here's a chart that lists how many calories a variety of activities would burn in one hour, based on weight: https://www.mayoclinic.com/health/exercise/SM00109 So, for example, if you're 240 pounds, you could burn 2000 calories in less than 2 hours by running 16 miles, or in four hours by walking 14 miles. Keep in mind, we're talking either a seriously long time exercising (do you have four hours to walk today?), or some seriously intense exercise (that's sixteen 7-minute miles!) If your goal is to burn 1,000 calories in a reasonable amount of time, it's going to take training and endurance. The average non-exerciser is probably not going to be able to do it right away.

It's BS - and the trainer is either unqualified - or likes to exaggerate. Marathon runners burn that... not un-fit people looking to reduce weight. Their heartrate would be critically high to come close to that level of burn rate. Fact is, we only use about 20-25% of the calories we eat for daily movement. The rest supports the bodies natural functions... like cell repair, heart beating, thinking, etc. if your 250 lbs, you likely have a medical condition (hypothyroidism?) or your current diet is very unbalanced or both. I suspect both. Wanna read some good news? Heavy people are naturally very strong already! You have to be strong in order to carry around the added weight. So now the goal is reducing your size. (ignore weight...think size instead). Step one -- fix your diet! Step two - burn up the stored energy with strength training. The 2nd step will come naturally as you already have power. Use that to your advantage.
I don't know and that might not be the answer you want, but on the other hand you have to consider those people are supervised by professionals. If you want to lose weight on your own I'd suggest you make a slow start then speed up. You can go to a gym and practice a short routine; swimming is helpful too, is one of the sports that burns more calories. Also you should see a nutrition expert to fix your diet and definitely NOT stop eating, that won't help your metabolism to be faster. Hope this helps, good luck!
Silly entertainment shows or even infomercials selling things. What you should be doing is a radical change of diet and eating and a slow increase of exercise at a rate you can handle. 75% of weight loss when obese is diet and only 25% is exercise. A normal metabolism burns 2000 calories in a day, so if eating 1100 to 1500 a day of healthy filling foods and adding a hour of exercise in a growing intensity level will have you losing at least a couple of pounds a week and maybe up to 3 at the beginning as you burn off excess water and glycogen (body starch), followed by over a pound a week as you get towards a healthy weight. An hour of vigorous exercise that is well beyond what you could handle is 1000 calories. It is also only for a few weeks at a time and in-between need a healthy diet. 2000 calories is only a little over a half pound, and if you live an average day of activity, you burn 2000 calories just by your organs and body functions. To burn an extra 2000 calories is about 3 hours or more typically in exercise. You don't have the stamina at this time. http://www.nutristrategy.com/caloriesburned.htm
Look up Brazil Butt Lift, the dances they have they burn 2000+ calories. It does full body toning, and most of the time it's really fun so you don't just feel like your working out.
