How to hook up two or three amps?

How to hook up two amps and or do i need two amps? subs plus mid/highs?

• im getting 2 mtx terminators and im getting 2-4 pioneer 5-way speakers. The subs produce 1200watts max/but together about 400 watts rms and the pionners are going to be about 200 watts rms. but anyway what my question is, is it better to get separate amps for your subs and you mids/highs? im looking to upgrade my system later in the year too maybe two kickers 15inchs and add another 2 pioneer 5ways witch would most definitively need a better altinator, amp, batteries but for the long run what do you think? maybe using the amp ill be using for the subs NOW for the 4 pioneers ill be using LATER? srry if im over complicating it but i like to plan for the long run and understand everything there is to know before making a move. getting my first car in about a week or two would like to be ready for car audio. thanks :)

  First, the terminators do NOT take that kind of power, you should get an amp thats about 500w rms and try to go with something like hifonics for your amp. also, yes, you would need a different amp for your subs and speakers. but, if you get a good headunit/stereo, like a alpine cda or cde-123 then you should have more than enough power for your speakers. I used to have terminators myself and upgraded to 2 orion cobalt 15's in a ported box with a hifonics hfi1000.d and a alpine cde-123 with cheap boss speakers but the alpine goes LOUD. But i would look around more at subs and eventually you will want more bass than the terminators can produce so try to go with stuff thats a little more expensive but you will be glad you bought more expensive stuff in the long run. Go with maybe a single sa-12 in a ported enclosure on a hifonics gladiator 1000. That should be louder than 2 terminators by far. well i hope this helped.
