On the msconfig, are there any programs i shouldn't remove from the start up box for windows xp professional?

I have alot of programs in that start up box and I wanna remove as many as possible so i can speed up my computer speed. However, are there any programs that i need have started up? bottom line here is i am thinking of just removing every start program, but i don't wanna end up damaging my computer. Any thoughts?

Answer:
Use google to find out what things are first. Don't disable the things associated with the operating system unless you KNOW what the effect will be. It's safe to uncheck most programs aside from the antivirus though. Remember, google is your friend.

if you do not know what you are doing. you should never ever use msconfig to disable anything. if you disable the wrong thing, your computer will not start or will run ineffectively. use the safer, component services. to disable programs and services you do not require to run at start up. by switching them to manual rather than disable them completely. component services will not allow you to disable any essential services, .

Open the startup folder> take a screenshot and save it to the desktop. Now remove all of those startup items (not the folder; just what's in it). These are just shortcuts anyway. If anything was there that needs to be returned, you have it listed in that screenshot. My experience has been that nothing has to be there...just things you want to run every time after startup. Are you trying to get a faster boot-up?

Use Your Uninstaller and block unwanted programs on start up programs .. Windows have many unnecessary process its should disable or manual through services .. enjoy . no need to use msconfig .

dont fiddle with these thing as these are very complicated if u dont know something then dont do it if u disable the wrong thing then ur pc will not function optimally
