Did the people in boats survive the Japan tsunami?
-
I know that you can be in the ocean and a tsunami could pass right under you without you even noticing. But what If a mega tsunami happened? If I were sailing in the coast and a tsunami hit, what are my chances of survival?
-
Answer:
Surviving on a boat works if you are far enough from shore that the wave will not have broken, and if you can ride up and over it. There is video of a Japanese coast guard boat riding way high over incoming tsunami waves, its awesome. No chance at all if the wave has already broken, but a very good chance if you are past the break line.
