Which herbs are invasive?

Which herbs should I grow?

  • I ordered this mini greenhouse for a nice herb garden: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51DqDYuh6WL._SY450_.jpg So now I'm wondering which to grow. I've never done this before! I love cilantro so I'm going to try that. Other ideas - basil, oregano, mint. But I'm not sure what else! Which are hard and which are easy to grow? I plan on putting them all in pots, but are there some I could put in the ground as well? I live in Cincinnati so we have hot summers are colder winters with temps dropping below freezing pretty regularly for a few months straight. So I obviously plan on bringing the potted herbs indoors during the winter months, I hope they will make it, or do you think I'll have to start anew each year? I might even buy them a 1 kW HPS light of their own so they can survive the winter! Any other general herb growing tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Out doors herbs that will come back each year are "Rosemary", Mint, Thyme, Marjoram just to name a few. Rosemary is an Evergreen shrub, Marjoram is a ground cover that spreads rapidly and comes up new from the old roots every spring. In doors herbs are just about any you can get to grow in a pot. Do be prepared to plant new Cilantro every two weeks for a continual supply. Cilantro grows up and makes seeds almost immediately after getting big enough to use. No way to stop it from going to seed, so plant a steady supply every two weeks.
