Why are my citrus trees dying?

Why are my fruit trees dying?

  • i have 3 small citrus trees in my garden which are really green and fruit all the time but i bought 2 more , a peach and a plum for down the side of my house but all the leaves have turned yellow and are dropping off and there are no new shoots ... is it maybe from not enough sun?? i water them about 3 times a week and they do have good drainage.

  • Answer:

It sounds more like a problem in the root zone. I would immediately dig them up and examine the roots of those trees. They should not be knotted up, or growing in a tight spiral pattern or soft (rotting). I have a suspicion that the ailment started at the nursery you purchased from. The roots of a healthy tree should be splayed out in all directions with plenty of root hairs growing from the larger portions of the root. The yellowing leaves is a sign that there are little or no nutrients being sent up from the roots.
