How good are weight gainers?

Mass gainers and gaining weight/muscle?

  • Hello i am a 21 year old male i am 6'2 and currently stuck at 127 pounds with a weight goal of 150-160 pounds. I am looking to gain the weight through working out and taking a mass gainer i have but i want muscle not so much fat. I currently take ULTIMATE NUTRITION® Muscle Juice® Revolution 2600 - Chocolate from gnc and it makes me feel crazy full and tired because of the fullness. Would i actually be able to gain the appropriate muscle mass to reach my goal weight with working out every other day and taking the mass gainer or would i just gain fat from it? Or would i be able to gain it just by a plain whey protien shake form gnc? Thank you for your time

You're not in the stage to be relying so much on a supplement just yet, if any. From the description I sense that you still do not have a workout plan figured out, but already using supplements to gain weight. Would i actually be able to gain the appropriate muscle mass to reach my goal weight with working out every other day and taking the mass gainer or would i just gain fat from it? You can easily consume enough protein through foods without supplements, until you reach a point where you have gained well amount of muscle mass(body builder). If you have the stomach to consume supplements, instead eat foods to increase your calorie intake and protein as well. You shouldn't see yourself gain noticeable fat as long as you can keep track of how much you are consuming, and whether you are working out efficiently or not. When you mention "working out every other day" are you working out full body every other day? If so, remember that your body can take about 3 to 6 days to fully recover depending on the intensity of the workout. A beginner may only need a day of rest, while a professional body builder may require a whole week of rest for the targeted muscle. Also, if you consider yourself in the beginner area, then you definitely do not need to think too deeply into using supplements, but worry more on improving your form, and speed during the lifting. As months pass by, split the muscle groups so you have a 2 day split, then 3 day split, eventually reaching a point where you are working out 6 days a week, by targeting different muscle group on each day.
