My 1998 Nissan Quest will not crank after replacing the front valve cover gasket. What could be wrong?
-
I had to move the distributor out of the way to get to one of the valve cover bolts. I made sure not to remove any of the plugs from the cap. Did the negative battery connection need to be disconnected before taking and moving the distributor out of the way? With both the new gasket in cover and bolted in and the distributor back in place, it will not crank. It will turn over but not crank. What might I have done different?

Answer:
You mean it cranks but don't start. Check the connectors going to the distributor.

turning over and cranking are the same, if it wont fire theres a good chance you may have split a wire going to the distributor, pull the cap and check inside, also check the wires for cracking going into the dist.
