Building Muscle Mass?

I am slim, I weigh about 180 pounds and I'm 6'2" tall. I would like to gain muscle mass but have never been to a gym to do anything other then walk on a treadmill. I don't know the first thing about lifting weights or even how much I can bench. Does anyone have any routines, advice and pointers that could help me get started and let me know what I should and can do to reach my goal? My goal, I would like to weigh between 210-220 pounds (gaining muscle mass) and I do realize this isn't going to happen over night, that it's a working progress.

Well first you need to find someone who can teach you good solid lifting form and probably focus onshore compound lifts such as squats, dead lift, bench press, and cleans. But good form is the key, once you have mastered the form and technique then go up from there. Oh and of course nutrition is a huge part, to gain mass u have to consume a little more than what you burn on a day
