What careers are possible if I do a degree in Criminology?

Studying Criminology and Psychology?

• Hiya, So I'm getting ready to leave school (18) and I'm just looking around for careers that would interest me. I have done Psychology and it did interest me but I'd like to combind it with Criminology. I was able to find out what this career in tales but I was looking for more detailed information about what I could do, and it didn't say what I'd do on a daily bases or what jobs are available here in the UK. Where I'd go after my Degree or maybe different fields in the Career. Now I'm only looking into it so if anyone could offer any advice or help that would be great. Thanks

  I have studied forensics as part of a psychology course and I can see how psychology could influence that whole area.Psychology is all about human behaviour so if you combine it with criminology,a psychologist tries to get into the mind of the "criminal" and tries to ascertain the motivations that caused him/her to carry out the crime. This is done using tests like a p300 and others.From the work a criminal psychologist does,a database is built up and that information is used to draft laws etc and perhaps to develop strategies and interventions to prevent particular crimes or to reduce rates of crime.In my opinion the first port of call would be a reserve voluntary special constable or maybe a peace commissioner.Maybe you could get some information from one of the free legal aid centres.They will,at least,suggest aspects of the career to which you can research. Look at the whole forensics area,think CSI Miami etc.Its really important and with the advancements in dna testing etc,will become more and more important.
