Bible says no.

The Israelites were forbidden to engage in this practice, one that was common among some other ancient peoples. For example, there were times when the Egyptians tattooed the names or symbols of their deities on their breast or arms. By complying with Jehovah’s law not to disfigure their bodies, the Israelites would have stood out as different from other nations. The prohibition would also have impressed upon them a proper respect for the human body as God’s creation, to be used in honoring him. Ps 100:3; 139:13-16; Ro 12:1. Since Jesus was a Jew he would not have had a tattoo, he would have been breaking God's law if he had a tattoo.

There's the whole "you're body is a temple" deal, but... getting a tattoo doesn't mark your soul, lead your life as you will and throw trivial things by the wayside. If someone disagrees with you getting a tattoo, then tell them to not where low cut shirts or shorts... tell them to not have their ears pierced, tell them that it's a sin to smoke and drink. Luke 6:41 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

Neil you're an atheist what the hell do you know? Stupid pompous knowitalls...Leviticus doesn't apply to Christians, it was a commandment given to the Jews, also the reason some people think the way you described is because secular tattoos don't have anything to do with God and therefore do not decorate our bodies in a God glorifying way nor treat them like temples, I have mixed feelings on tattoos but am getting my first one in a couple of days, and it's a prayer. Also many Copts in Egypt USED to tattoo crosses on themselves and even their foreheads as a sign that they will not convert to Islam and follow a false prophet

Ok since your not a christian i will give you my answer but I'm not expecting you to agree with it. The bible says that our bodies are temples. He does not want us smoking, doing drugs etc because he gave us our bodies and he wants us to love them! He also gave us bodies so we can feel his love, and worship him. people that get Tatts often get symbols that have nothing to do with God. To some people this is ok, but to God this is putting markings on your body that do not reflect him, or worship him. God states in the bible that he is a "jealous" God. I don't expect you to agree or understand all this, but this is the answer I believe most Christians will give you. As for Christians getting tatts based on their faith? I do not think it is wrong, if its reflecting thier love or reminding them of their love for God. Hope this helps :)

They obviously haven't read, or find some way to ignore, Leviticus 19:28.
