Are Bayliners good boats?

What are your top 5 boats(50ft) and would an irwin ketch be apart of it?

  • new to boats and I have been readin about irwin and bayliners,I am trying to find out what type of boat is an irwin

  • Answer:

For sure Edward, you did not have to tell me you were "new to boats" as the mere mention of Irwin, Bayliner, and 50 feet, in one sentence told me that. I'm 64 and have had one or more, sail and power "live a-board size" boats all my adult life. In fact, my current boat is my home, and I live and cruise on a full-time basis. As a result of course, I am on my boat now - and I sure do love wireless Internet. At any rate. . . you will get much more, and much better help if you ask your question based more on where and what you intend to do with it. For now anyway I can tell you that a 50ft boat, sail or power is far too much boat for even the most experienced and accomplished boater to handle safely, alone. So consider what it is you really want or need to know, and try popping the question again.

I don't know if 45 Auto, or Yankee sailor have ever owned a big Irwin, but I have. I had the Out-Island 37 and I found it to be a tough boat. I had the 4 cyl. Perkins diesel. These boats are getting a bit old now but the fiberglass was much heavier then than is now common. The interiors where trimmed in teak. So I'd buy another one if I wanted to get back in a sailboat. They built a 50+ foot boat, and I've sailed on it, but liked the 37 better.

Irwins are also universally known as Urines. For a reason. The very bottom of the barrel.
