Answer:
Yeah you need to have a minimum qualifying percentage of 50%(40% in the state of Andhra Pradesh). You will also need to take entrance test/s depending on the college you want to join. There's CBSE's PMT(Pre medical test),Andhra Pradesh's EAMCET and similar tests for some other states(like Karnataka and Maharashtra). There's also this seat called management seat. You don't need to take any test for that(50% in GCSE will do)-but this is a more expensive option. The top medical colleges conduct separate tests for themselves,so you'll have to take those if you want to join them(AIIMS,JIPMER,CMC,AFMC).You say you're an Indian diaspora,so there's a good chance you'll like Manipal-its not very difficult getting into Manipal and there are people from many countries there. The fee there is rather high(by Indian standards at-least)-US $110,000 for an NRI seat and US $ 39,000 for a normal seat. Yes,an NRI can get into a government medical college. It won't be easy because most seats(in some govt colleges) are reserved for locals-so,you'll have to work extra hard. If there's anything else you might want to know, feel free to e-mail me.

Yes, you can. Minimum requirements : 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology each in 12th grade. Yes, physics is equally important. It's compulsary to give entrance test too. Suppose you want admission in the state of Maharashtra then you should appear should Maharashtra common entrance test. Good luck.
