Which is better? Swift diesel or Petrol?

  • I will mostly drive my car around 500-600 km monthly...on rural roads... Also let me know if I can install LPG kit in swift petrol... I want good mileage and I am afraid of diesel engine (Maintenance cost, Noise etc.) .. Please help me in selecting a good car for my family

    Go for Swift. Diesel and Petrol is completely your choice. If you are concerned about low cost running go for Diesel. As the old thumb rule that states more than 1500kms a month or more than 16000kms a year diesel works out well, otherwise petrol should just be fine. You will need to look at the ownership cost, the premium price of a diesel car and its maintenance cost along with Petrol. Yes the petrol prices are high but you will be able to reap out of the diesel car only after 30-40K onwards. Diesel engines are work horses and for such low mileage of 500-600 kms a month diesel doesn't sound a good option, its just a current trend that everyone wants to go for a diesel when it doesn't make sense for low monthly or yearly mileage. In i20 its good to go for a Diesel or the 1.4 versions. The 1.2 version petrol is under power compared to its counterparts like swift, VW polo and Punto. Take a test drive and then crack the deal. diesel will give u a good millage, but as u mentioned above noise, heavy maintenance.. etc will occur, my suggestion is don't go for maruthi vehicles, because interior of almost all maruthi vehicles is poor, surely interior noise will come (my own experience,i own swift zxi petrol) you cant even identify from where it is coming, rest of the features like power, style & all are nice. Try fiat Punto or Polo also before buying swift.

diesel all the way dude coz : 1:Cheaper than petrol 2:More mileage than car running on petrol cons : 1:Needs more maintenance 2:Diesels engines produce a lot of vibrations/noise dont get lpg coz its not safe if by any change it gets lit d car explodes u can get cng its really economical u get 2kgs for 200 buck n it gives mileage of 200+kms i did my job rest, the decision is urs :)
