Are My Speakers blown?

I replaced blown speakers at Best Buy, and they still sound bad.?

  • I have a 98 Saturn SC1. I bought it a couple days ago, and was annoyed with the bad speakers. So I replaced all of the speakers in the car. The front two speakers would sometimes make a chirping noise and the back two were blown. After they were installed professionally by Best Buy, the person who replaced them told us that the back two have a buzzing noise. He said he thinks it might have something to do with the factory cassette/radio in it.So I checked it out, and it sounds like I can't have any bass or it will make crackling noises. And the back right speakers also has that fuzzy noise (white noise, I think) even if I have the volume down low, or just the front two speakers playing. I'm guessing I'm going to have to buy a new cd player for it, but I still don't know if that would fix anything. If you have any advice for me, or your opinions on the whole situation, please tell me. That would be great. Thanks!

Yeah just get a new CD player. Prefferably one thats 50+ wattsx4, so you wont need an amp; unless you wanna go deaf. Even though you got new speakers, it wont sound much different since the source (your stereo) is still the same. It'll make a HUGE difference, even if you had your stock speakers in them. Sony, Pioneer etc. would be good.

I don't think it's the speakers, if the amp in the radio is blown, it will send distortion to the speakers. If you have a stock radio, it is impossible to blow the stock speakers. You bought this car used, it is possible that the previous owners installed an cheap amp and you just need to remove it. It might be located in the truck or in the dash. Good luck. BTW... cute car.

Changing out the cassette to a cd may eliminate the buzzing sound.

The reason your speakers buzz isn't because of the speakers its because you don't have enough amplifier power and your turning it up too high..when you turn your amp up too high it produces a distortion called clipping. Clipping is what blows your speakers; too much power doesn't blow your speakers too little does...get a amp or head unit with more power or you will just keep replacing your speakers...once there blown there is noting you can do but get new speakers even a new amp will not help at that point.

Just buy and amplifier which will equalize the power of each speaker and will give u da best result :) Enjoy!
