Hook up two car amps?
-
I have a 1000(peak) watt amp and a 2800(peak) watt amp i want to connect both. Can I take the wire coming from my battery and use a distribution block to split the 4 guage into two 8 gauge wires, or do I need bigger ones? Also do I need to use two fuses or just the one by my battery. And do I need two batteries to power both amps and how would I add a second? I have the 2800 hooked up now and want to add the 1000.

Answer:
you need to look at the fuse sizes of both amplifiers and add them together. then use this link to find the correct size wire. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/1005-wirefuse-guide/page__hl__wire+chart. use this link to find the correct size extra battery. be sure to use the rms wattage on this site. the peak wattage would not work correctly. http://www.kinetikaudio.com/2009/powercalc.asp
