Will a 300 watt amp wiring kit work for an 800 watt amp?

  • I bought a wiring kit to wire my sub and amp in my car, I stupidly misread where it said 800 watts on the amp as 300 watts so I bought a 300 watt amp wiring kit, will this work or should I return it and get a kit that is for 800 watt amps

Hard to say for sure whether it will be adequate or not. On the surface, clearly 300w is less than 800w so you'd want larger wire. however, the way different brands advertise power makes it impossible to know for sure w/o knowing specifically what amp kit you have and specifically what amp. So at this point the RIGHT thing to do is get a larger kit, but if you want the technical answer we need to know more about the kit and amp.
