What is the loudest car speaker?

What if my car speaker makes no sound?

• Hi I recently installed a new sony head unit in my 03 avalanche, now I know that seems to be the reason but wait a second before you start thinking I messed it up. Lets back up a bit, when my parents first bought this vehicle I noticed that the speaker in the back left side seemed to pop and sounded rather awful at times, but now after installing the new head unit it works fine and the front left speaker doesnt work, so im thinking that since I was sitting on the passenger side maybe it just seemed to be the back rather than the front, anyway when my friend and I checked them after the installation was complete the front driver side speaker doesnt work at all and its the only one, I know this could be because one of my wire connections is wrong but trust me I checked and checked and checked and checked them to prevent this from happening. So do you think its just the speaker or is it my wires? P.S. this all four speakers will be replaced in around a month anyway so let me know.

  What method did you use to make your splice connections? Did you use butt connectors? twist wires and just tapped? solder the connection? And sometimes the molex pin inside the wire harness can be pushed out, I have seen this happen before. If you are able to take the door car off, push on the speaker cone first to make sure it still moves. If it don't then you have a fried speaker which would be consistent with the popping and distortion you may have heard. If it still moves, At least check to make sure that the voice coil isn't rubbing on the motor. If it still moves freely, take the speaker out and make sure its still connected, if it is, disconnect it and measure the ohms of the speaker to see if it still reads 4 ohms. anything lower than 2 ohm or over 8 ohms would be a bad speaker.
