Left speaker makes a crackling noise?

Why my car speaker left drivers side makes a crackling noise?

  • i have a chevy 2010 Equinox.......the drivers side large speaker makes a crackling noise. its inter-mitten. whats really baffling is that i can hear a crackling sound even when the radio is off. could it be an on-star problem or can it be just a bad speaker connection. i would like to do some research before i take it back to the dealership

  • Answer:

bad channel in your factory amplifier if one is involved or a bad cable carrying the speaker signal from amp to speakers.it could be because your amplifier is still receiving power even if the stereo is off.this is a head ake for the dealer for sure.good luck hope you have a warranty.it could be the speaker itself.you have a factory sound system and most sound like crap even when working right.just another way to get you back to the dealer.if you ever buy another new car or suv, tell them you do not want the stereo package and save the money so you can go to a pro installer and have him hook you up with something nice.something clear as a bell with great bottom end too.
