Is it normal for my amp to get a little hot?

What is making my amp get hot?

  • ok let me break it down, 1000w xplod Sony amp and two 600w 10" pyle speakers. The amp is bridged which pushes 400w rms, my guess is the speakers can take about 300w rms so they're receiving 200W rms each from the amp (correct me if I'm wrong). Cable kit is for a 1200w amp and all connections are right. Enough space avaliable for air. Battery in good condition as well until it got screwed. What could cause the amp getting so hot (believe me it gets really hot) and my battery to be shorted out?

  • Answer:

make sure it is 1000x rms, if not, that can be a reason. make sure your connections are good again. if your amps specs do not come close to your subs (im talking about 50 w close) you might be making your amp work too hard to try to put out power it just cannot deliver.
