How do I stop malicious e-mails?

How do I stop emails being sent to my contacts with my email even though I closed my gmail account?

  • For the last three months at least one person from my family is receiving emails with my email address that contain links to solicitous and harmful web sites. They are all smart enough not to open them, but the emails keep coming; even after marking as spam or junk mail I checked to see if my account was compromised, but the only log ins were from my computer and at times that I was online. Plus the emails are not in my sent folder. My research suggest that my email address as been spoofed. After a lot of research I still don't see how to stop it. I deleted all my contacts from my gmail account, but it had no effect. Finally, I closed my gmail account, giving up an email address I have had for many years. :( Then today I was told by my brother that he received 4 emails from that address. Other family members are reporting they are still receiving emails from me on a daily basis. This is so frustrating, embarrassing, and creating a lot of distrust from my family. I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING, but I am at a complete loss as to what I can do.

  • Answer:

There is no way to stop a spoofed email address. If I had it I could send email with it as the FROM address. Yahoo online does not allow it but any email client program can do it. ℬ ℋ
