Why is my surname changed when I send email?

I changed my last name in my profile but yet when i send an email it still lists my name as it was before?

  • As i was saying in the title, i changed my last name in my profile, which is the only place i've found that has my name listed. but yet when i send an email the recipient still sees my maiden name. i've changed my name in my profile multiple times, and i do save it when im done inputting it and seeing as how yahoo has made it almost impossible to contact them, i am turning to all of you, any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

  • Answer:

Summer :) Changing your last name on your Yahoo! Profiles doesn't have anything to do with sending messages. By the way, are you talking about sending messages from Yahoo! Profiles to users who are on your connections or compose an email, then send it to someone? If so, your last name will not work out for your display name is the one that is used by Yahoo! ====> Go to your Yahoo! Profiles and follow my footprint. While you are on Yahoo! Profiles [must login] ==> My profiles ==> Edit Profiles ==> type in the name that you want to use in the box that says display name follow by the button that says "SAVE." Last answer for the day :)

You'll have to go in and change the "from line" setting. This is the NEW way to change the "from line" setting----the old way is no longer available. This works the same on both versions---either Classic or New Mail. Mail page>>options>>mail options (or "more options" on the New Mail)>>Accounts (from the list on the left)>>then click on "Yahoo Mail" (middle of page, under "Accounts"). Now you'll need to erase whatever is showing, on the "From line" and type in something else---your new last name---or anything you want-----then click "save" changes at the top of page. ......................................… You CAN'T leave that line blank---otherwise Yahoo WILL insert something there, that you might not want. You will also need to change it in the Options menu for Email. It's not a good idea to display your full name in Email though. Makes it too easy for hackers. CHANGE "FROM" NAME IN YAHOO MAIL 1. Click on the "Options", Mail Options link in the upper right of your yahoo mail page. 2. At the top of the General page that opens, go to the box across from "From", click in the box, delete what you have in there, and enter a nickname, email address or whatever you would like displayed in outgoing mail. 4. Most important, go to the top left of this window and click the Save Changes icon.
