How can I check if the CC and BCC is valid or not?

When do I use cc and bcc to send email? and why? I wish to eliminate the addresses of emailers before?

  • How do I erase names of previous email senders from the email I receive before sending them on? Do I check the letters cc or bcc before resending email so that I do not send all of the previous names and addresses?

Hi again Jane---this is an edit to the following instructions. Think about this and try it again. It does work. And I am with Yahoo. When you delete the previous addresses (as stated)----and then send----ONLY the outgoing mail will be changed. Original remains unaltered. Go to your sent folder and click on the message that you changed and you will see that it is, in fact, changed and the recipients don't get all those addresses. As for using the BCC, with your name entered onto the TO line------?you said that you got it back?-----well, of course you got it ---your name was on the TO line---BUT all in BCC ALSO got it ---privately-- and all they saw was your name. You can always delete your extra copy so as not to crowd your mail box. Hope this explains it a little better for you. Erase previous addresses easily by clicking on forward as usual----then highlight all those addresses and press the delete key on your keyboard and puffffffff they're gone. Send as usual. The BCC is used to hide the addresses that you are sending to----It's a good way to protect everyones privacy and allows no one to see who you are mailing to. Yahoo (unlike a few others) INSIST on an address on the to line------so common practice is to put your own name on TO and everyone else in BCC. All anyone will see is your name . And if you've already erased previous addresses----and put everyone in BCC-------you have a really cleaned up outgoing mail.

as for the names of previous senders etc on the note - just hit the 'reply' button instead of the 'reply to all' adn it will only go back to teh 1 person who sent it and not everyone else they copied. You can also just highlight (click on the names) and delete them whether they are on the 'to', 'cc', or 'bcc' lines or in the text of the message. Now as for the cc and bcc they stand for 'carbon copy' and 'blind carbon copy' - terms from back in the day when sheets of carbon paper was placed between sheets of paper to make a duplicate. A cc is for someone that isn't the main person the note is going to but should be aware of the discussion for whatever reason and it should be known that they have been made aware of it. Say you write a letter to a store manager about an employee that was either very helpful or perhaps wasn't helpful enough - you would address the correspondence to the Manager (TO) but you would cc the person being discussed. With bcc, this is for when you want to copy someone for whatever reason but you don't want the 'to' or 'cc' people to know they are being copied. This is why the e-mail address of a person who is bcc'd on a note doesn't show up at all - the receiver's of the note are blind - can't see the address. This is done for all kinds of reasons. Some people feel that when say sending out a joke to a whole bunch of people you should send it to yourself and bcc everyone else so that you don't give out their address to everyone - when it goes out in the 'to' or 'cc' line everyone who gets the e-mail can see everyone elses addresses - with bcc they can't. I hope this explains it all to you. I just read your additional info - and yes if you put your own address on the TO line you will get teh note sent TO YOU adn all the people who were BCC'd will get a copy as well but they will only see your address on it - no one elses. So, you did it right! If you kept trying this you have likely sent the note to everyone several times. What you can do is send a test note to one friend and bcc the other and have them send it back to you so you can see how it comes out at their end.
