How to e-mail "undisclosed recipient?

Someone please explain how to make an "undisclosed recipient" email list.?

  • I sometimes get an email that says to undisclosed recipients and I don't understand it. I'm sort of a novice at emailing.

  • Answer:

The undisclosed recipients list was mailed by a contact who entered names they wished to remain private into the Bcc section of the Compose page, protecting their friends privacy. Try it in Yahoo: After you click on Compose or Forward to open the Compose page, click on TO and your address book will open on top of the page you are in. Check the boxes (To, Bc or Bcc) next to those you wish to Forward to, go to the top of the list and click on "Insert Checked Contacts." The address book will close and the names you selected will be in the fields you selected. Either type your message and click Send, or Forward, depending on your preference. Those in the Bcc field will be received as Undisclosed Recipients. You will need at least one name in the To field though, in order for your message to be sent.

There are two ways depending on your mail agent. Some email agents do not disclose members of a distribution list, if that's your case you can create a personal distribution list with the display name of "undisclosed recipient". Many email clients will allow you to create distribution lists, but will disclose all members when you send the list, in that case place your list in the BCC address field. HTH
