How do you shrink photos to send in an e-mail?

How to "shrink" photographs to send via email?

  • I can currently "shrink" the size of photographs, in order to send them via email, using Windows XP. However I normally use Vista these days, and would like to be able to "shrink" photos using that format. Do you know of a way to do this on Vista ?

  • Answer:

Download and install the freeware IrfanView, it has many useful features, yet is extremely easy to handle. Once it is installed, open your pic with it, go to "image" in the top bar, click "change size", enter the desired size, also change the DPI (dots per inch) settings to 72, then save your pic as .jpg or .gif. http://www.irfanview.net/ By downsizing your pic, saving it in a lesser format and also reducing the DPI settings, you may keep quite a few people from stealing your pictures, as they still look good on the site, but when you try to enlarge them or print them, the quality will become blurry. That's why you should keep a copy of the original high quality on your computer! IrfanView support forum: http://en.irfanview-forum.de/vb/index.php?s=edb9aaf88e7abdf7251d8c62a8ef1289

This is what I have done and it works great: 1: Download 'Image Resizer' software for Vista at: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/ 2: Once downloaded, select the picture (press and hold shift or CTRL to select multiple pictures at once) and right click. 3: Select the VSO Image Resizer option on the menu that appears. You will need to agree that you are using this software for personal use only by clicking 'Continue'. 4: Select your desired resolution size (you'll need to play around with it to determine which size works best for you). You may do so by pixels (px) or percentages. I find percentages works best for me. 5: Choose the options you'd like. Such as whether you would like to make a copy of the picture in the smaller version or if you'd like to replace the current picture with the resized picture. Hope this helps, enjoy!

Open up Paint, then choose Image -> Stretch/skew. Then choose 25% or something for both width and height. If the size looks good, save it. That's it.

This is the simplest way. http://www.shrinkpictures.com/
