Answer:
Your contacts list may have been compromised. The best thing to do, Tell your friends not to click on any links in those email,as they will have virus/or worms attached You and your friends will need to do a full spyware scan, and check your contact list for email address/s that shouldn't be there, and remove them. Finally change your password, and make a note of your new one. this link helps to explain whats going on,just click on it to access. http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en_US&page=content&y=PROD_ACCT&id=SLN2159&impressions=true Good luck. As this is in the yahoo category I assume you mean your yahoo mail. The free version has advertisements to pay for the costs to yahoo. If you use the pay version you have the ability to stop the banner adds etc. but you will always get spam emails on all email accounts but you can filter them out with any email program.

Some time ago Yahoo had technical problems and accidentally placed a script in the box on the YA pages instead of the flash ads normally displayed. That's when I found out that adyield-manager and bluelithium is used to place personalized ads - both use cookies to track your browsing habits, so you may get a different ad displayed than somebody sitting right next to you. That prompted me to look for solutions since I don't like to get spied upon, and I found several good solutions... Click tools in your top bar -> click "Internet Options" -> click "Security" tab -> click on "Restricted Sites" -> click "Sites", type in the following two sites: http://ads.bluelithium.com/ http://ad.yieldmanager.com/ That should take care of most of those ads. Other possibilities... Download and install the latest Firefox browser: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html Install "adblock plus": https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNvb2SjVjjI Result: no more annoying ads! And pages are loading much quicker too...:-) http://www.admuncher.com/ - this adblocker for the IE (and other browsers) gets highly recommended in several forums. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26171/safari-adblock - for Safari Mac http://opindian.com/blog/2009/02/25/adblock-solution-for-safari-4-windows-and-mac/ - another solution for Safari 4 Win and Mac. I for one have the Firefox installed and don't see a single ad on the Yahoo pages...:-)
