My employer refuse to pay for my holiday?

Does an employer have to pay holiday pay for every holiday or can they choose what holidays they want?

  • I don't get paid holiday pay for working holidays. My employer, I guess, does not consider a holiday, a holiday, so they don't have to pay me holiday pay? Does an employer have to pay holiday pay for every holiday or can they pick and choose what holidays they want to pay their employees holiday pay?

  • Answer:

Usually most employers will pay holiday pay for the most observed holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, and the Fourth of July.. There is no stipulation that they have to pay holiday pay at all. That is pretty much just a bonus for the employees if they can find a job that pays time and a half on holidays if you are working it.
